06 Kristi - Music Weirdo

Hi. My name is Kristi. I am going to be writing about Music, for instance what is the most popular song this week or some of my favorite songs. I will be writing about music because it is my most favorite topic in the world! I love artists like Taylor Swift or One Direction when they make all these amazing songs that we can all listen to. Music has lots of different feelings like sad songs make you sad and fast and fun songs make you wanna MOVE! So yeah that's what I'm going to blog about. ☺☻♥♦♣♠•◘○◙♂♀♪♫

MASHUP: DJ Earworm United State Of Pop 2013

posted May 5, 2014, 11:09 AM by KristiD 86   [ updated May 14, 2014, 6:38 AM ]

This the song we are dancing to for our school. Every Monday we practice to this song. I love it a lot because it has a bunch of mixed beats(like a proper mash up) and many parts where it's slow or fast. Since this is a special occasion I will only be putting in all the songs in the mashup and what makes it a good contribution to the song. I'm only going to do a few since there are a lot.

Avicii feat. Aloe Blacc - Wake Me Up
Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man
Capital Cities - Safe & Sound
Daft Punk feat. Pharrell Williams - Get Lucky I never really heard this song as much as some of the other songs in the mashup so it's disappointing.
Eminem feat. Rihanna - The Monster
Florida Georgia Line feat. Nelly - Cruise
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
Imagine Dragons - Demons
Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake - Holy Grail
Justin Timberlake - Mirrors    Starts off one of the super slow parts but is also a big addition to the song.
Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z - Suit & Tie
Katy Perry - Roar
Lady Gaga - Applause
Lorde - Royals   It is one of the pretty big additions to this mashup since the song was a huge hit.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us   Makes the song have a cool beat since it has this really cool     french horn solo in the song which is added in the mashup giving it the good sound.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - Thrift Shop
Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball
Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop    It gives the song a really fast beat and is usually one of the songs that start up the fast beat.
OneRepublic - Counting Stars
P!nk feat. Nate Ruess - Just Give Me A Reason
Rihanna - Stay  It gives a smooth tone/soft to the song, since it is a slower song.
Robin Thicke feat. Pharrell & T.I. - Blurred Lines
Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin - Don't You Worry Child
Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble   I am pretty disapointted with DJ Earworm since they only put the "screaming" part of this song.
Will.I.Am feat. Britney Spears - Scream And Shout

This is why I love this song.

Can't Hold Us

posted May 2, 2014, 1:16 PM by KristiD 86

Can't Hold Us by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton was a very popular song in the summer. It was pronounced the song of 2013. I always loved this song. It was super catchy and fun to "rap" (I was no good at the rapping part). This song was always stuck in my head during summer. It made me want to be a rebel (I don't know why). But good thing I never was one. Now I'm going to tell you the top 3 things I love about this song.

1. The rap. I'm not a rapper at ALL! I know raps are really hard to memorize because they are so fast that you have to know  it inside out. Macklemore always makes songs and even raps very emotional with all the inspiring words. In this song if you listen to the rap you can hear bits and pieces of beautiful lyrics. That's what I love about all of Macklemore's raps.

2. The message. This is the same as the first paragraph. The bits and pieces of the song and rap as well. For example:
Trust me. On my I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T .........

But sometimes they are not so good. After the INDEPENDENT part it get's not as good for school purposes. But songs like Same Love have that emotion.

3. The collab. This song is with Ray Dalton and he sings the chorus. That is my most favorite part of the song so I am grateful to have him sing that or else I don't know what it will sound like without him. But it just add a nice touch to the song so I like it.

Those are the top 3 reasons why I love this song.

Red Hands

posted Apr 18, 2014, 12:53 PM by KristiD 86

I don't know why but I've always liked this song. It made me think whenever I heard this song about anything but Red Hands. It's weird. I like how the song Red Hands by Walk Off The Earth isn't about love, letting go or anything. It's just about Red Hands. And I think that is unique. Now I'm going to tell you the top 3 things I love about this song.

1. The voices. This song is sung by a band, Walk Off The Earth. It is not a all girl band or all boy band but a mix like R5. It gives the song a nice touch. I personally like the girl's voice better because...

a) I'm a girl.
b) It's a higher pitch sound and makes the song flow better.

So yes that's why I like the girl's voice better.

2. The tune. It's a real simple tune not all complecated making your brain want to explode. The simple beat gives the lyrics a bigger meaning because the simpler it is the more you ignore it and listen to the lyrics more.

3. The message. I love how this song isn't about being strong or love or any of the normal song topics. It's just about Red Hands. It's unique and that's a good thing because it makes "more" money. Though it depends... Anyways that's a good topic to sing about. In the world uniqueness is always important. Hey that could be a new quote................

Those are the top 3 reasons why I love this song.

Rude

posted Apr 16, 2014, 2:32 PM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 17, 2014, 1:04 PM ]

I first heard this song during recess. I was working on something for Mr. Boesch (And we are stil not done because he keeps on forgetting! MR. BOESCH!) and we put the radio on. Rhianne and Tanya started freaking out because Rude came on. I heard it and liked it a lot! Now I'm going to tell you 3 reasons why I love this song.

1. The message. Even though this is a song about love, I think it's really sweet. The song is about love and a dad not letting his daughter marry the singer. The father will not give his blessing to the singer who wants to marry his daughter. But he is going to marry her anyways as stated in the song.

2. The album cover. Even though it involves cartoons and them on a boat (taking a nice cruise is my guess), it's a creative cover. Most covers are nice pictures of the singer/band but I never seen this before. It shows that they are not like everyone else and unique.

3. The music video. I know it's been a long time since I've liked a music video but I think this one is super sweet. The singer Magic is trying to get the father's attention showing him how much he loves her. Magic walks up to her house and knocks on the door with flowers in his hand. It's super sweet.

Those are the top 3 reasons why I love this song.

We Are Stars

posted Apr 16, 2014, 2:05 PM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 17, 2014, 1:04 PM ]

I have loved this song for quite a while now. I first heard it on the radio and loved it. I never knew what it was called until yesterday during art class when I asked my friend Leanne what it was called. Now I'm going to tell you 3 reasons why I love this song.

1. The "rap". When I say this there is no rap in this song. But there is a part where it goes a lot faster than the other parts. It is sung by  Alyssa Ried which might be a suprise to you. Girls are not good as singing raps as boys but think about it. What about Nicki Minaj? Right? Anyways I just think it's a great addition to this song.

2. The meaning. This song teaches you to believe in yourself. In the "rap"(as I like to call it) some of the lyrics were...

We are the kings and queens of hearts that break
We may fall in between the cracks
Living life like it's just a game of blackjack
I don't know how but we always find our way back
Looking back when I was just a little girl with a big dream living in a lonely world
Life is impossible so believe that you're unstoppable

Those last 2 lines are really meaningful. It is so inspirational it motavates me to do something. Believing that you are unstopable is amazing. When I read those lines/listen to those last 2 lines it makes me feel like I am powerful and can do something to change the world.

3. The collaboration. It love these 2 voices together in this song. It makes it sound so much better with it.  Both of the smooth voices mixed together sounds AMAZING!  The female singer, Alyssa Reid adds a great touch to the song. Whenever there is a collaboration, I always think it's a better song.

Those are the top 3 reasons why I love this song.

Crazy For You Hedley

posted Apr 10, 2014, 10:58 AM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 16, 2014, 1:33 PM ]

The second I found out about this song I fell in love with it. It had a crazy beat and the most catchy tunes. The song reminded me of Kiss You Inside Out also by Hedley. Don't worry it's not as gross as it sounds like. So I'm going to tell you the top 3 reasons why I love this song.

1.  The crazy beats! This song has a cool beat but still pretty steady. It has a pretty crazy beat at the chorus though... But it is still has a nice tune not to loud and scary that it makes someone not want to listen to the song (like I do whenever I hear the songs Harlem Shake, Gangnam Style or Gentlemen).

2.  The voices. I love the smooth voice of this song. I love how they can hit that amazing high pitch. I love to sing and sometimes sing this song for myself but I can never hit that high pitch so I just start with a lower voice so it sounds like I am really high pitched, but not. Just a little tip.

3. The album cover! Well I know this is not part of the sonng but I'm going to say it anyways. For a long time now I wanted to see an album cover with neon on it. And Hedley forfilled my dream. But also in the background of the cover you can see the band. I think that's a really cool idea.

So thoses are my top 3 things I love about this song.

Same Love Macklemore

posted Mar 20, 2014, 11:18 AM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 7, 2014, 8:14 AM ]

How I respond to these lyrics

"Man, that's gay" gets dropped on the daily
We become so numb to what we're saying
A culture founded from oppression
Yet we don't have acceptance for 'em
Call each other faggots behind the keys of a message board
A word rooted in hate, yet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin color, the complexion of your pigment
The same fight that led people to walk outs and sit ins
It's human rights for everybody, there is no difference!
Live on and be yourself

Is very strongly. This song is very powerful in a way about gayness, bullying and racism. It has a strong meaning and I can tell people can relate. Either they are gay or being bullied, I bet when they hear this song they know that some people are going through the same thing and know how they feel. I bet when they hear this song they know that Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary Lambert are behind them and support them through that song. It's a powerful song with many emotions but it's a good song.

For The First Time In Forever

posted Feb 27, 2014, 2:20 PM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 16, 2014, 1:38 PM ]

This Song For The First Time In forever is in the movie Frozen. The song is about having a party later in the day and opening up the gates for the first time because ever since Elsa's and Anna's parent's died they never had parties anymore so this is like The First Time In Forever. Now I am going to tell you why this song is so Great!

1. The meaning of it! I already told you about it in the first paragraph but I really like it because it has something people can relate. How? Well the song has lyrics like "The window is opening so's that door, I didn't know that they did that anymore, who knew we owned eight

2. The collaboration with Idina Menzel! near the ending of the song (maybe 2 mins) Idina Menzel comes in telling her motto "don't let them in, don't let them see, be the good girl you always have to be,conceal don't feel, don't let them know" because it is the day she becomes queen but she has a secret. She can create snow or can use sorcery. So that's why she doesn't want anybody to know or else she wouldn't become queen.

3. The lyrics! In the 1st reason I told you about the excitement in the lyrics but did I tell you about the awkwardness? There are some lyrics like "I wanna stuff some chocolate in my face" and "I know it's totally crazy, to dream i'd find romance" and those I can totally relate to. I have that urge to wanna belt out random lyrics all the time!

Happy

posted Feb 27, 2014, 6:01 AM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 16, 2014, 1:46 PM ]

This song Happy by Pharrell Williams is a great song to listen to when you are super Happy. I always sing this song when I am happy! Like for instance Feb 27th is my birthday so the day before my birthday I was singing this song like CRAZY! It was also in the movie Despicable Me 2 when Gru finds out he loves Lucy. Now here are 3 reasons why this song is AWESOMELY AMAZING!

1. The beat! I love the beat! It's a very nice pace that doesn't change through out the song at all! That's why it would be probably be really easy to keep in time with a choir or play on an instrument like the drums.

2. The part in the movie! In the movie Despicable Me 2 when Gru was finally knew how he felt about Lucy this song comes on and it really expresses how happy is is (until he finds out she is going to Australia that is). He was so happy i'm going to make a list of what he did when he was happy:

-Did yoga                               -Played garbage cans as drums
- Made heart pancakes        -etc. (forgot the rest)

3. The voicing! I love the voice of Pharrell! He kind of reminds me of Robin Thicke in Blurred Lines. The voice is raspy but at the same time soft. If you know what I mean. I don't

Dark Horse

posted Feb 26, 2014, 11:14 AM by KristiD 86   [ updated Apr 16, 2014, 1:48 PM ]

This Song Dark Horse is by Katy Perry feat. Juicy J.  This song has just recently become popular and is very catchy. Now I'm going to tell you 3 reasons why this song is AWESOME!

1. The Music Video! If you watched the music video for Dark Horse then you know what it's like. The Music Video tells a story about a Queen named Katy Patra (Katy Perry) where men come from all over the world just to impress her with gems and food. Even a dog try's to impress her! Also the costumes are AMAZING!

2. Juicy J. When Juicy J raps it takes the song to a whole new level! He tells men that Katy is very dangerous and that if you have a chance with her you better keep it. Also the beat when Juicy raps is very catchy and mixes in with the actual beat very well. It's my favorite part in the song!

3. The pace! The song has a really nice pace where it goes fast then fast and it's really suspenseful. It's a good idea too becasue it gets people pumped up like I do when I listen to this song. It also gives a break to people in the slower parts to have been partying to crazy.
